What Is In Your Control?

Check-ins are great. You should do them.

Why?

Because when we check-in, we can get revitalized in our goals. We are held accountable to the things we set out to do by someone who cares about our journey.

If we are doing what we said we would, you’re in for a crisp high five and the fun conversation about next steps.

But, what if you haven’t been doing everything you said you would, you’re not in store for the ol’ “WHY HAVEN’T YOU FLOSSED” talk you get from your dentist.

The thing about growth is that it isn’t a straight line and we are going to fall backwards at some point. Your coach’s job in the check-in is to be a resource. I mean they are an expert in the field you wish to improve in and are paying for, USE THEM.

If something isn’t working, they have a list of different things to try that I work on them with monthly to improve. 

So, if you go up to a check-in and go in and everything is not going the way you hoped here is what you can expect:

”I see that we haven’t done what we expected this cycle, what is going on?”

”I have just been so busy with my job and kids that it’s just a struggle to go into the gym.”

”THAT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US. We all go through seasons of life and this season is a tough one. Do you want to get your journey in here back to where you want it?”

”Yes.”

”Then let’s focus on what is in our control and work on that.”

Then the conversation would continue on about what you feel is keeping you from the gym and often we find that there are little things that you can control and a story is what is really surrounding that obstacle.

At the end of the day, growth is hard. Some times it is gonna be like climbing a mountain and others it’s gonna be like stepping up onto a curb. The point is, that you asked for help when you started here, why stop?
