1,000 Experiences → 100 Ideas → 10 Beliefs = 1 Value
This is (roughly) how your brain builds the way you see the world.
Whether you realize it or not, your brain is constantly collecting data—taking in experiences, looking for patterns, and creating shortcuts to help you make decisions faster.
Those shortcuts? They’re your values.
They help you decide what matters without having to rethink everything from scratch every single day.
And I’m bringing this up because this exact system is why building a new habit can feel hard at first… but much easier to keep once it sticks.
Especially this time of year.
What you actually signed up for when you started:
When you began your fitness journey with us, you didn’t just sign up for workouts.
You started building a new value:
That taking care of yourself matters.
Maybe that idea came from things you’ve seen online.
Maybe from friends or family who train.
Maybe from feeling what happens when you don’t take care of yourself.
At some point, you saw enough cause and effect to think:
“Yeah… this is something I want for me.”
That’s when an idea starts turning into a belief.
But a belief only becomes a value when it’s backed by your own repeated experiences over time.
Why the holidays can throw a wrench in things:
As we head into the holidays, you’re not just managing your schedule.
You’re bumping into older, deeply ingrained values.
Things like:
- Family time matters
- Work responsibilities matter
And here’s the catch:
Those values have years (sometimes decades) of experiences reinforcing them.
Your newer value—prioritizing your health—is still being built.
So when things get busy, it’s the easiest one to sacrifice.
Not because it’s less important.
But because it’s less established.
What to do about it:
If this is still a newer value for you, simplify the mission:
Do one thing each day for your health.
That’s it.
Mental.
Physical.
Emotional.
Doesn’t have to be big.
- A workout
- A walk
- 10 minutes of stretching
- Stepping away for a breather
Block it in your calendar. Set a reminder. Tell people it’s your time.
Make it the first thing you protect—not the first thing you drop.
Even on the busiest days, give it something.
Because every time you follow through, you’re adding another data point.
Another experience.
Another vote toward this becoming part of who you are.
Here’s the payoff:
If you stay consistent through the holidays—even imperfectly—you’re stacking dozens of reps.
Do the math and you’re looking at 80–100+ experiences reinforcing this value by the time the new year rolls around.
That’s how it sticks.
That’s how it stops feeling like something you have to do… and starts feeling like something you just do.
Be the person that keeps moving forward—even when things get busy.
Because the experiences you choose right now?
They’re shaping what matters to you long-term.
