The Five Pillars of Health

The 5 Pillars of Health

After seven years of owning a gym, I’ve watched over 1,000 athletes walk through our doors. We’ve helped far more people than we’ve ever let down, and I’m incredibly proud of what our Vegvisir athletes—and alumni—are out there accomplishing.

As we prepare to move into a new space, it’s given us time to reflect on where we’ve been and where we want to go next. To do that well, we had to look back and ask a simple question: Who have we helped the most—and why?

Sure, we could define “helped” as getting someone to hit a goal. But that’s never really been the point.

Just look at the TYR board. You won’t see “get toned” written anywhere on it. That board exists after something more important has already happened. It reflects people who are dreaming bigger because they’ve already built the foundation we truly care about:

Helping people create habits that make their bodies an asset for as long as possible—so they can live happier, more capable lives.

When I looked at the athletes who achieved that, I noticed something interesting. Every single one of them improved in the same five areas.

The 5 Pillars:

  • Fitness – How we train our bodies to handle the demands of life
  • Sleep – How we recover from stress and training
  • Nutrition – How we fuel and support our bodies
  • Mindset – How we interpret and respond to challenges
  • Community – The people who support us in calm times and carry us through hard ones

These five pillars are powerful because improvement in any one of them makes us healthier. When we do something small every day for each, we’re doing everything in our control to build a resilient, high-quality life.

But here’s the catch: no single pillar can stand on its own.

Even if four are rock solid, neglecting one can bring everything down. You can train six days a week, stretch daily, eat well, and have great people around you—but if you’re sleeping four hours a night, that train is eventually going to derail.

Over the next few emails, we’ll break down each pillar and what virtuosity in that area actually looks like. For now, take a moment to reflect:

Where do you feel like you’re crushing it?
Where do you feel like you could use some help?

Reply to this email with your thoughts—I’d genuinely love to help.

Our coaches are already training on how to better support all five pillars as we get ready for this next chapter.

Have a wonderful day, y’all, and we’ll see you in the gym.
