The 800g challenge

Eat 800g of Fruits and Vegetables. Do this as many days as you can!

Why this challenge instead of our usual Fitness Related Challenges?

1) You get plenty of fitness from us and there are 4 other areas in your health we can help you with to improve your fitness: Nutrition, Sleep, Mindset, and Community. Working on your nutrition with a group works on 2 of those!

2) We often answer nutrition questions in our Athlete Check-Ins, so why not give an opportunity for all of us to join on this journey together.

Why 800g of Fruits and Vegetables though? Isn’t that a lot?

800g is 1.76 pounds. It’s also only about 400-500 calories when made up of fruits and vegetables or about 25% of the daily recommended amount of calories for the average person. 

800g of fruits and veggies would cover about 1 regular dinner plate and when spread throughout the day, it would just need to take up a third.

The idea is to consume this first, then your protein, then (if you have any room left) eat the starches ya have.

Often with healthy eating, we suffer from not feeling satiated. If you measure in calories, this can be a really big problem if you’re trying to lose weight. 140 calories of bread and 140 calories of sweet potato feel a WHOLE lot different settling in your stomach.

Why Should You Do It?

1) Peer Pressure. I’m doing it too, I haven’t ever actually made this amount of fruits and veggies a focus and I’m very excited to see the benefits this challenge should have.

2) The real reason you should do it is the pursuit of virtuosity in health. At Vegvisir we are all about self-care. We want you to workout 3 hours per week because we know the profound effects it has on your day, week, and future. Let’s use the power of our group to give nutrition some love. Plus, it’s free so like there’s nothing stopping you!
