Quick Fixes

Quick fixes sound nice, don’t they?

If I can do 1 thing that takes minimal time that would have a lasting positive effect on my life, I would do it.

Quick fixes exist all around us!

“Angry?”

Vent to a friend.

“Lights go out?”

Flip a breaker back on.

“Shoulder Hurt?”

Get an injection.

You feel better in a short amount of time and you feel better having done it. But, what can happen when we take quick fixes?

“Vented to That Friend?”

What happens the next time that thing angers you comes around?

“Flipped that breaker?”

What is that was a wire short and your house burns down?

“Got a shoulder injection?”

How is your shoulder gonna feel 6 months from now if you change nothing?

The thing is, most quick fixes are a bandaid that you use until you’re ready to do the hard thing. It’s often the things we avoid that are the things we need to do when it comes to taking care of ourselves in the long run.

“Lights go out and flipped the breaker?”

Have your electrician come by and make sure your box is alright for the upcoming summer.

“Vented to your friend and still angry later?”

Address the underlying problem with the help you feel is necessary.

“Shoulder hurt and you got the injection?”

Now start mobilizing and activating 10 minutes before every workout to make sure that when that injection wears off, you won’t need another one.

Your coaches can’t help with that friend you’re angry with or fix your electricity. But, if there is something you are avoiding in your fitness for the sake of “speed,” let me know!
